Scottish government urged to take account of hospitality concerns over calorie labelling

"It is important that the Scottish Government hears views from businesses on the impact such a scheme will have on them and their customers,"said Leon Thompson, UKHospitality Scotland's Executive.

A 12-week consultation will ask for views on how this can be applied to food and catering industries changing in size, public establishments such as hospitals and jails, pre-made foods such as stuffed sandwiches, online takeaway menus and children's items.

A 12-week consultation, setting out the wide variety of foods and drinks to be covered, will inform whether laws will be made to make the inclusion of calories on menus a legal obligation.

It is a part of wider Government action to ensure Scotland is a place where we eat well and stay healthy, including our objective to halve child obesity by 2030.
