European hotel group refurbishes Haymarket office block

International hotel operator Meininger is to open a new hotel in Edinburgh's Haymarket district after striking a deal with property development company S. Harrison.

Founded in Berlin in 1999, Meininger Hotels now runs 35 hotels and more than 19.500 beds in 25 cities throughout Europe.

Construction is to start at the start of next year.

S. Harrison has already invested in Edinburgh, including in developing the boutique Malmaison hotel in the city's new town as well as in the approval of two student housing facilities.
