Travelodge announce new student recruitment scheme

Travelodge has launched its latest recruitment drive, aimed at students, to fill 3,000 jobs (2,200 permanent roles and 800 seasonal roles). The new programme offers students flexible working hours to fit around studying, as well as the opportunity to transfer location to fit with students' differing living arrangments during summer holidays.

Travelodge have over 560 outlets across the UK that are recruiting for roles within recepetion, restaurants and housekeeping. The hotel chain hope to tap into the two million storng pool of students, who can take advantage of their numerous locations.

Travelodge chief executive, Peter Gowers, said: “Today’s students have to study harder than ever and meet the rising costs of education. With more than 560 hotels across the UK, Travelodge is uniquely placed to offer you a role in your university location during term-time and in your home town during the vacation. Our new student programme gives you flexibility during your studies and the potential to build a longer-term career after graduation – a better way to earn while you learn.”

The scheme also offers students a buddy system, comphrensive training, company benefits including staff discount and access to the management programme, Aspire, which allows students to enahnce their skillset.

The programme was designed after Travelodge surveyed 1,500 student employees. It revealed that over half of students work 8 to 24 hours per week, and that they feel it is essential to work while studying.

The programme compliments Travelodge's parents' scheme, which they launched earlier this year.
