Reports suggest longest continual decline in retail sales for eight years

For a third consecutive month, retail sales volumes in the UK have shown a year-on-year fall. A survey conducted by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) stated this had been the longest run of decline since 2011.

Subtracting the 26 per cent reporting a rise from the 42% posting a fall, a net 16% of UK retailers have recorded a year-on-year drop in sales volumes for this month.
