The meat-free move follows the unparallel success of the vegan sausage roll in 2019. The company seen a profit increase of 58% in the first half of last year, which many attributed to the vegan treat.

The vegan steak bake uses Quorn meat substitute, along with gravy and onions. It also boasts 96 layers of pastry.

Greggs CEO Roger Whiteside announced last year that he was vegan ad that the bakery giant would be launched vegan alternatives to all of its popular items.

Greggs aren’t the only company jumping of the vegan bandwagon this year. KFC has promised a meat-free burger. Chicago Town will release a vegan frozen pizza later in the month. The Co-op and Caffe Nero have announced a vegan range.
