KFC announce vegan burger

KFC have announced plans to trial a vegan version of its signature original recipe fillet burger.

The Vegan Imposter will be on trial in 20 restaurants across London, Bristol and the Midlands, starting 17th June. The new burger will have a Quorn fillet, lettuce, vegan mayonaise and the original herb and spice coating.

KFC is also trialling a vegetarian dish at the same locations. The Southern Fritter Stacker is avalable as a burger, wrap or rice box.

Head of food innovation at KFC UK, Victoria Robertson, said: “Vegans have been cruelly denied the incredible taste of KFC up to now, which is why we’ve worked hard to perfect the Imposter – a vegan burger that the Colonel would be proud of.”

Head of global foodservice and QSR at Quorn, Tony Carr, said: “A vegan KFC? We couldn’t believe it either. But we’ve done it – working with KFC we’ve created a bespoke Quorn fillet that does the Colonel’s recipe justice.”

PETA also commented on the annoucement saying: “We’ve been so excited to hear about this and play a part in KFC’s journey to reaching this game-changing new vegan range. We’re confident it will be a huge hit with the skyrocketing numbers of vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians around the UK.”
