Scottish school leavers to be supported into a career in hospitality after results day

On Tuesday 4 August 2015 students will be getting their Scottish qualification awards (SQAs) on results day and Springboard is here to guide school and college leavers into what steps to take next.

Every year at the beginning of August, hundreds of thousands of secondary school and college pupils receive the outcome of what has been months of hard work, sweat and tears in preparation for their exams. More than 500,000 exams were sat by more than 132,000 students, who took courses at 473 schools and colleges throughout Scotland.

Springboard’s CareerScope understands that after the SQA results day, young people are predicted to have more complex career paths. This is why Springboard’s CareerScope provides FREE specialist careers information, 1:1 advice and guidance such as preparing a great CV, interview and cover letter tips, facilitates excellent work experience, provides information on apprenticeship and job opportunities in hospitality, as well as, offering motivational programmes to help young people make a successful transition into work within the hospitality industry.

Scotland Director for Springboard, Kelly Johnstone added “Our Springboard CareerScope service helps young people in Scotland fit together qualifications, education and practical work experience to create their own career path. It is vital young people know about all options available to help them in a career in hospitality and the world of work.’’
