The Lancaster London hotel, Rick Stein’s the Seafood Restaurant, River Cottage, Compass Group UK & Ireland (pictured), Elior UK, Greene King and KFC were among the 100 companies to make the cut.
Compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service and sponsored by City & Guilds, the list recognises exceptional apprenticeship employers from across the country.
It is made up of businesses that display the highest standards of excellence from all National Apprenticeship Awards employer categories.
Compass employs around 500 apprentices a year and featured on the list for the first time. Melanie Hayes, resourcing and developing director for Compass, said: “It is a great achievement to be named in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer list.
“Apprentices make up a valuable part of our business and as a leading apprenticeship employer we are very passionate about training those who we employ at the start of their careers with the right skills and knowledge for their future and for our business.”
Pub company Greene King has taken on more than 7,400 apprentices since 2011. It offers qualifications to support a range of job roles including front of house, kitchen and management.
Rooney Anand, Green King’s chief executive, said: “We are very proud to be celebrated as one of the UK’s Top 100 apprenticeship employers.
“As a leader in the hospitality industry, which employs more than 42,000 people, we feel that we have a responsibility to develop and invest in our employees.”
Sue Husband, director of the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “The Top 100 apprenticeship employers have made a difference to the lives of young people by investing in their future whilst apprentices themselves help employers to develop a skilled, qualified workforce that builds a stronger economy.”
The National Apprenticeship Awards were held at Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel, in London on 26 January.
The government plans to have three million more apprenticeships by 2020.
