Borough Market and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall host a vegetarian feast

On 21st September, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Borough Market will be hosting a three-course feast featuring recipes from his new book Much More Veg, to mark the culmination of River Cottage’s month-long residency at Borough Market.

The evening will showcase some of the best that Borough Market has to offer with produce from Ted’s Veg and Chegworth Valley, wines from Borough Wines, with all profits from the event going to Borough Market’s Trader Relief Fund, to support Traders affected by June’s terror attacks.

“We can’t think of a more fitting crescendo to our partnership with Hugh and River Cottage than a feast at the heart of the market, with a menu that combines the best of the market, and showcases the food ethos shared by River Cottage and Borough Market,” said Darren Henaghan.

“The vegetable kingdom offers us a huge range of delicious possibilities,” says Hugh. “These new dishes demonstrate that and I’m really looking forward to sharing them. They’ll be cooked on the day by River Cottage Head Chef, Gelf Alderson, using fabulous produce kindly donated by Borough Market traders as well as our friends at Riverford Organics. It will be a true celebration of the wonderful world of veg!”

The feast will be hosted by Hugh in Borough’s Market Hall, and he will be joined by some familiar River Cottage faces from September’s month of talks, courses and more; alongside guest contributors Tom Hunt and Melissa Helmsley.

In true River Cottage style, guests will dine around a communal trestle table adorned with dishes created by River Cottage Head Chef, Gelf Alderson. On arrival guests will be greeted with a pre-dinner cocktail, the River Cottage Bloody Mary, made with Riverford Organic beetroot and Devonshire Black Cow Milk Vodka.
